Job description

Thera is hiring a Finance Analyst (NYC, in-person)

Thera is building the financial OS for modern SMBs, one system for payroll, payments, treasury, spend, accounting, and docs. We’re a small team backed by YC, shipping fast and actually enjoying it.

This role is for a curious, numbers-obsessed analyst who wants to sit next to the CEO and help run the company.

What Thera does

We help modern SMBs and startups run their finances end to end: payroll, payments, treasury, spend management, accounting, and more in a single system. Customers use us daily to move real money and run their businesses.

Location & logistics

  • Location: New York City (in-person, 5 days/week)

  • Employment type: Full time

  • Department: Finance & Accounting

  • Compensation: Estimated base $65K–$80K + 0.01%–0.25% equity (depending on experience)

What you’ll do

You’ll be the analytical backbone of finance and a direct partner to the CEO.

  • Own monthly close support: reconciliations, flux analysis, variance reports

  • Build and maintain cash forecasts and liquidity plans (daily/weekly/monthly)

  • Model unit economics and run cohort analysis across products and segments

  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and scenario planning with department heads

  • Prepare investor and board reporting packs (metrics, KPIs, commentary)

  • Build financial dashboards and self-serve reporting for leadership

  • Help design simple, scalable finance processes as we grow

You’ll work directly with the CEO and founders, and your work will directly shape hiring, product, pricing, and capital decisions.

About you

  • 0–3 years in finance (startup/fintech, banking, or Big 4 with startup exposure)

  • Extremely strong in Excel/Google Sheets; comfortable building models from scratch

  • SQL or similar data skills are a plus (you can pull and clean your own data)

  • You care about accuracy, deadlines, and clean, audit-ready work

  • You think like an operator: bias to action, comfortable with ambiguity, happy to build from zero

  • Excellent written and verbal communication; you can explain numbers to non-finance founders

  • You want to be in-person in NYC and work shoulder-to-shoulder with the CEO

Not a fit if

  • You want a purely compliance/audit role with little business partnering

  • You prefer slow, heavily process-driven environments over early-stage startups

  • You’re not willing to be in-person in NYC

Why Thera

  • You work directly with the CEO and help shape how finance scales as we grow

  • Your analysis directly influences product, pricing, hiring, and capital decisions

  • You’ll help build a finance function that feels like a competitive advantage

  • Backed by YC, 10X Founders, Zillionize, and Amino Capital

  • Team hotpot lunches are a real thing. You’ll be expected to have strong opinions on broth and finances.
