APPLICANTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO APPLY AS SOON AS POSSIBLE*** Job Summary Maintenance Repair Workers perform semi-skilled work in the building and mechanical trades to repair, construct, and/or maintain buildings, facilities, and equipment. Essential Qualifications Three years of experience performing semi-skilled work in the relevant building and/or mechanical trades; OR one year of experience as a Maintenance Repair Worker III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

Job Duties Under general supervision, the incumbent performs basic maintenance and repair work across multiple trades to maintain, repair, and modify facilities, systems, and fixtures. Duties include performing basic plumbing work such as installing and repairing valves and fixtures, and clearing clogged drains; basic carpentry work to maintain and modify facilities and fixtures, including installing and repairing locks, making keys, installing window blinds, and constructing special-use features or objects as needed; and basic interior painting, including taping, texturing, patching sheetrock and masonry surfaces, and setting up ladders and scaffolding. The position also involves basic electrical work, such as installing replacement parts in defective equipment, replacing ballasts on 120-, 277-, and 480-volt fixtures, and adjusting and cleaning electronic controls.

Incumbents perform basic equipment maintenance and repair, including tuning and adjusting equipment and vehicles, conducting preventive maintenance, and replacing worn or damaged parts. Additional responsibilities include basic welding and machine work, such as shaping, joining, and installing ductwork; constructing storage racks; welding gates; and repairing tools and equipment. The incumbent must be able to distinguish between colors and shades of colors, as work on complex electrical control systems requires accurate identification of wire color coding for safety purposes.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities This job specification lists the major knowledge, skills and abilities of the job and is not all inclusive. Incumbent(s) will be expected to have knowledge, skills and abilities from a previous level. Working knowledge of: safety hazards and safe working procedures; standard practices, methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in the building and mechanical trades as related to the maintenance and repair of buildings, grounds, and equipment.
