MSU Manager (Med Surg Unit) – Full-Time | Grand Junction, CO

Location: Community Hospital – Grand Junction, CO 81505
Job Type: Full-Time (Exempt)
Compensation: $53.00 – $60.95/hour + $20,000 Bonus


Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced MSU Manager (Med Surg Unit) to provide leadership, operational oversight, and clinical excellence within a hospital setting. This role ensures high-quality patient care, staff development, and compliance with regulatory standards.


Key Responsibilities
  • Lead daily operations of the Med Surg Unit, ensuring quality patient care and compliance
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop nursing staff
  • Manage staffing schedules, productivity, and resource allocation
  • Collaborate with leadership and HR on hiring, onboarding, and retention
  • Conduct performance evaluations and implement improvement plans
  • Support staff education, certifications, and competency development
  • Assist with budgeting and cost control
  • Ensure readiness for Joint Commission, CMS, and regulatory audits
  • Participate in leadership on-call rotation
  • Provide direct patient care support when needed
  • Monitor and improve nurse-sensitive quality indicators
  • Collaborate with departments for staffing and float pool utilization

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) required; MSN preferred
  • Minimum 3+ years of leadership experience in Med Surg or similar setting
  • Active RN license in the State of Colorado
  • BLS and ACLS required prior to hire
  • PALS and TNCC/TCAR required within 6 months
  • NE-BC required within 3 years
  • CCRN, PCCN, or similar certification preferred
