Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Director of Simulation Lab, the Simulation Lab Assistant supports a variety of simulation-based learning experiences within the School of Nursing. This position combines healthcare, technology, and administrative support responsibilities to ensure a high-quality educational experience for students and faculty. Key responsibilities include operating simulation technology, audiovisual equipment, and patient simulators; setting up and maintaining learning environments; managing supplies and equipment; and providing technical and operational support during clinical simulations and skills labs.

Key Responsibilities:
Simulation & Technical Support:
  • Operate human patient simulators and supporting simulation technologies.
  • Configure network and audiovisual systems required for simulation activities.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate with vendor technical support teams when needed.
  • Assist faculty during simulation and skills lab sessions to ensure smooth operations.
  • Install software updates and maintain simulation-related technology.

Laboratory Operations:
  • Coordinate timely setup and breakdown of simulation and skills lab activities.
  • Prepare supplies, equipment, and learning spaces for student experiences.
  • Maintain a highly organized and efficient lab environment.
  • Ensure rapid turnaround between simulation sessions.

Equipment & Inventory Management:
  • Monitor and maintain inventory levels for simulation and skills lab supplies.
  • Conduct routine cleaning, testing, and maintenance of simulators and healthcare equipment.
  • Coordinate vendor-supported maintenance and repairs.
  • Maintain accurate equipment maintenance records.

Scheduling & Administrative Support:
  • Assist with scheduling simulation activities and laboratory usage.
  • Draft academic-term simulation schedules for approval by the Director.
  • Order supplies and assist with operational planning.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Faculty & Student Support:
  • Provide instruction and guidance to faculty on the use of simulation equipment and technology.
  • Offer ongoing technical assistance and troubleshooting support.
  • Foster a positive, professional, and collaborative learning environment.

Safety & Compliance:
  • Follow all laboratory safety standards and protocols.
  • Support safe handling of needles, simulation medications, and equipment.
  • Promote psychological safety and a supportive learning environment for students.
  • Adhere to university policies and best practices.

Qualifications:
Required:
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a healthcare-related setting.
  • Experience operating computerized equipment and audiovisual technology.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred:
  • Medical Assistant (MA) certification.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.
  • Experience in a nursing skills lab, simulation center, educational environment, or healthcare training setting.
  • Familiarity with simulation technology and healthcare equipment.
