Job description

Position Overview

Better Care Counseling Services is seeking a dedicated and experienced Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) to join our remote team, focusing on the geriatric population. In this full-time position, you will provide essential counseling services via telehealth, addressing the unique mental health challenges faced by older adults. Your expertise will contribute significantly to improving their quality of life and emotional well-being.

About the Organization

At Better Care Counseling Services, we are committed to providing high-quality mental health counseling to diverse populations. Our Geriatric Care Clinic specializes in helping seniors navigate complex emotional landscapes related to aging, loss, and life transitions. We pride ourselves on offering culturally sensitive care, fostering an environment of empathy, respect, and support for both clients and their families.

Work Environment

This role is fully remote, allowing you to deliver essential mental health services from the comfort of your home. The telehealth setting not only provides flexibility but also enables you to reach seniors in various locations who may otherwise have limited access to mental health care. Our continuous investment in technology ensures that you will have the necessary tools to provide effective, evidence-based therapy during virtual sessions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough mental health assessments for elderly clients, identifying specific psychological needs and developing individualized care plans.
  • Deliver both individual and group therapy sessions, facilitating discussions that help seniors cope with emotional challenges, including grief, depression, and anxiety related to aging.
  • Collaborate closely with health care professionals—including doctors, nurses, and social workers—to create comprehensive care plans that integrate mental and physical health strategies.
  • Provide education and resources to family members and caregivers, promoting understanding of emotional well-being strategies specific to elderly individuals.
  • Facilitate grief counseling and support groups for residents and families dealing with significant loss or end-of-life issues.
  • Implement cognitive stimulation activities and therapeutic interventions aimed at enhancing the mental acuity and emotional resilience of clients.
Patient Population / Client Focus

Your primary focus will be on elderly individuals, often facing unique challenges such as the loss of loved ones and significant life transitions. By specializing in geriatric mental health, you will address various conditions ranging from mild anxiety to severe depression, tailoring your approach to meet the specific needs of each client. This role allows you to make a profound difference in the lives of seniors, helping them navigate the complexities of aging with support and compassion.

Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling from an accredited institution.
  • Active state licensure as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC).
  • Minimum of 4 years of recent, relevant experience in geriatric counseling and mental health support.
  • Specialized training or certifications in geriatric mental health and issues related to aging.
  • Strong understanding of evidence-based interventions suitable for elderly clients.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of establishing rapport with older adults and their families.
  • Demonstrated empathy and cultural sensitivity, especially when working with diverse populations.
  • Ability to conduct thorough assessments and develop tailored treatment plans that address the multifaceted needs of each client.
  • Knowledge of ethical and legal standards governing geriatric mental health counseling.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience with telehealth modalities and virtual counseling techniques.
  • Background in addiction counseling as it applies to older adults.
  • Involvement in community outreach initiatives aimed at increasing awareness of mental health issues among seniors.
Compensation and Benefits

The position offers a competitive annual salary of USD 65,000 to 95,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Additionally, candidates will have access to a sign-on bonus as part of our commitment to hiring exceptional talent. Comprehensive benefits include:

  • An employee assistance program providing confidential support and counseling services for your mental health and well-being.
  • Wellness programs designed to promote physical health and encourage positive lifestyle choices.
  • Flexible work arrangements that support a healthy work-life balance.
  • Incentives for engaging in health and wellness activities, along with health savings or flexible spending accounts for healthcare costs.
Career Growth Opportunities

We invest in the professional development of our team members. As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor at Better Care Counseling Services, you will have access to ongoing training, workshops, and potential pathways for advancement into leadership roles. We encourage a culture of learning, where you can expand your skills in geriatric mental health counseling and develop your career in ways that align with your personal and professional aspirations.
