Work Environment

As a Remote Geriatric Mental Health Counselor, you will work from home while engaging with a multidisciplinary team through digital platforms. Scheduled hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, providing a structured workweek that promotes work-life balance. Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough mental health assessments specific to elderly clients to identify individual care needs and therapeutic goals.
  • Facilitate both individual and group counseling sessions that address emotional challenges, promoting resilience and coping strategies among seniors.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals such as physicians, nurses, and social workers to develop and implement comprehensive care plans tailored to the unique needs of geriatric residents.
  • Educate family members and caregivers on best practices to enhance emotional well-being and quality of life for their elderly loved ones.
  • Provide grief and loss counseling to support residents and their families in navigating end-of-life challenges, fostering healing and understanding.
  • Implement cognitive stimulation and mental health interventions designed to support mental acuity and emotional stability in aging individuals.
  • Ensure ethical and legal compliance in all counseling practices, staying informed of best practices in geriatric mental health.
Patient Population / Client Focus

This role primarily focuses on serving seniors dealing with various mental health issues, including depression, anxiety, grief, and adjustment disorders. At our Geriatric Care Clinic, we recognize the unique challenges that arise with aging, such as loss of loved ones and health transitions, and we are committed to providing tailored support to these clients. Qualifications
  • A valid Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from an accredited institution is required.
  • Must hold an active Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) credential.
  • A minimum of 4 years of recent experience in geriatric counseling and mental health support is essential.
  • Demonstrated understanding of evidence-based interventions specific to geriatric mental health is important.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with elderly clients and their families.
Preferred Experience
  • Advanced training or specialization in geriatric mental health is highly desirable.
  • Previous experience in community health or crisis intervention settings would be advantageous.
