Job Summary
DRS RADA Technologies in Germantown, MD, is hiring a Manufacturing Engineer. This position is full time and on-site.
As a subsidiary of Leonardo DRS, DRS RADA Technologies delivers proprietary radar solutions and supports legacy avionics systems for defense customers around the world. The company is a recognized pioneer in AESA tactical radar technology, supporting missions such as active military protection, counter-drone operations, critical infrastructure security, and border surveillance.
Job Responsibilities
  • Support Design for Manufacturability (DFM) reviews on new mechanical assemblies and electro-mechanical systems, providing actionable feedback to design teams early in the development cycle
  • Interpret and review engineering drawings and GD&T callouts to ensure producibility and inspection feasibility
  • Collaborate with design engineers to develop and document manufacturing processes, work instructions, and assembly procedures for new product introductions
  • Assist in prototype and first article builds on the production floor, providing hands-on support and capturing lessons learned
  • Maintain and manage BOMs and ERP data to support accurate material planning and configuration control throughout NPI
  • Identify opportunities to reduce cost, cycle time, and risk through process improvements and design feedback
  • Work with manufacturing teams to establish tooling, fixtures, and process controls required for new product builds
  • Support the transition of NPI programs into production, ensuring documentation and process readiness

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience working in aerospace or defense
  • Up to 2 years of relevant engineering experience (internship and co-op experience considered)
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks or equivalent 3D CAD software
  • Working knowledge of GD&T and the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes including machining, sheet metal fabrication, and mechanical assembly
  • Experience with or exposure to ERP systems and BOM management
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills - comfortable working directly with design engineers and production floor personnel
  • Preferred: Hands-on experience in a production or prototyping environment
  • Preferred: Exposure to electro-mechanical assembly processes
  • Preferred: Familiarity with AS9100 or ISO quality management systems

U.S. Citizenship required. This position requires an active DOD security clearance or the ability to obtain such clearance within a reasonable time after commencement of employment.
The salary range for this position is $69,051.00-$89,767.00. This range reflects the good faith estimate of pay the employer is willing to offer at the time of posting. Several factors can influence the pay scale, including but not limited to: Federal contract labor categories and contract wage rates, collective bargaining agreements, geographic location, business considerations, scope, and responsibilities of the position, local or other applicable market conditions, and internal equity. Other factors include the candidate's qualifications such as prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education/training, and certifications. In addition to base pay, employees may be eligible for: annual performance-based bonuses, equity awards, and overtime pay (for non-exempt employees as applicable.
