Job description

Job's mission

As a Senior Engineer II, Key Account Technology (KAT) at ASM, you will serve as a key technical interface for strategic customers, driving new technology introduction and ensuring successful deployment of epitaxy (Epi) processes in high-volume manufacturing environments.

This role combines deep process expertise with strong customer engagement, supporting NPI, resolving complex technical escalations, and influencing product development through direct customer insight. You will work closely with both customer R&D/manufacturing teams and ASM global teams to enable long-term technology success.

Selected candidates will participate in approximately 6 months of training in the United States to build deep understanding of ASM technology and product platforms.

What you will be working on

  • Act as the primary technical interface for key customers, supporting Epitaxy process development and production while building strong relationships with customer R&D and manufacturing teams
  • Drive NPI and evaluation activities at customer sites, leading hands-on deployment and implementing BU-developed BKMs and process improvements
  • Execute and support customer-specific DOE and demo activities in collaboration with process teams
  • Diagnose and resolve complex process and equipment issues across development and production environments, while leading technical escalations including root cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Monitor equipment performance and ensure alignment with customer specifications
  • Understand customer technology roadmaps and align ASM solutions with future node requirements
  • Collaborate with global R&D, Product Marketing, and Service teams to drive continuous product improvement and translate customer requirements into product and technology development inputs
  • Support alignment between customer needs and ASM business strategy

What we are looking for

  • Ph.D. or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Experience requirements: Ph.D. with 4-8+ years of relevant industry experience, or Master's degree with 7-10+ years of relevant industry experience
  • Hands-on experience in Epitaxy (Epi), thin film / deposition processes (e.g., CVD, ALD, diffusion) or related semiconductor wafer processing technologies
  • Experience in semiconductor device manufacturing, process development, or capital equipment industry
  • Background in roles such as Process Engineer, Integration Engineer, Application Engineer, KAT, or Technical Customer Support is highly preferred
  • Solid understanding of semiconductor process integration and high-volume manufacturing environments
  • Proven ability to solve complex technical problems, including managing customer escalations and driving root cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Experience supporting NPI, process qualification, or technology transfer activities at customer sites
  • Strong analytical and data-driven problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills to engage effectively with customer R&D, manufacturing, and internal global teams

What sets you apart

  • Experience working directly with key semiconductor accounts (e.g., Samsung, SK hynix)
  • Hands-on experience with Epi / thin film / diffusion deposition systems
  • Experience leading NPI programs or customer technology evaluations
  • Ability to influence cross-functional teams and drive technical strategy
  • Strong customer-facing mindset with the ability to build long-term trust
