Job description

Neurosurgery Team Physician Assistant Or Nurse Practitioner

This health care professional is a physician assistant (PA) or nurse practitioner (NP) on the neurosurgery team of the Spine and Neuro department at Huntsville Hospital whose primary function is the co-management of patients (i.e., their diagnosis and treatment) under the supervision of the neurosurgical physicians within the recognized standards of practice in the clinic.

Qualifications

Education required: Completion of Nurse Practitioner Masters of Science in Nursing or current Physician Assistant license.

License, certification and/or registration: Successful completion of a National Certification Exam for NP or current registration through the Alabama board of Medical Examiners for PA. Approval of the Huntsville Hospital Credentialing Board. BLS required within orientation period.

Experience: Minimum one (1) year of work experience as a licensed NP/PA preferred. Inpatient, acute care neurosurgical or surgical experience preferred.

Additional skills/abilities: Must have proven ability to work in a team environment. Must be able to interact with patients and their families in a manner that instills confidence and facilitates communication. Ability to work productively and effectively within a complex environment.
