They are responsible for assessing patients before, during, and after procedures, assisting with sedation and monitoring, and providing patient education. Additionally, they may collaborate closely with gastroenterologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe and effective care throughout the endoscopy process.

How does an endoscopy nurse practitioner typically collaborate with gastroenterologists and the rest of the endoscopy team?

Endoscopy Nurse Practitioners work closely with gastroenterologists by assisting in patient assessment, preparing patients for endoscopic procedures, and providing sedation or monitoring during procedures. They also collaborate with endoscopy nurses, technicians, and administrative staff to ensure smooth scheduling and safe, efficient patient care. Strong communication skills are essential, as the Nurse Practitioner often acts as a liaison between patients, families, and the medical team, providing education and post-procedure follow-up.
