Job description

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lay out, position, align, and fit components using appropriate machines, tools, and equipment
  • Bolt, clamp, and tack-weld parts to secure proper alignment prior to final welding
  • Set up and weld components using approved welding equipment and procedures
  • Interpret blueprints, drawings, written instructions, and manufacturer specifications to determine hole locations, cuts, bends, and assembly requirements
  • Apply working knowledge of geometry, arithmetic, structural design, heat effects, and material thickness allowances
  • Safely and correctly use hand tools and set up and operate applicable shop machinery
  • Perform arc welding, oxy-acetylene welding, cutting, and brazing on ferrous and non-ferrous metals in accordance with established standards and procedures
  • Complete and maintain required production and quality documentation
  • Perform additional work-related duties as assigned
  • Comply with all NOV company policies, safety standards, and HSE procedures

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School diploma or equivalent, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of five (5) years of welding experience required
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license

JOB REQUIREMENTS 

  • Must successfully pass a drug test, background check, and physical
  • Willing and able to work in both field and shop environments
  • Ability to read, interpret, and work from fabrication and engineering drawings
  • Must successfully pass a 6GR welding qualification test
  • Proficient in welding using E7018 SMAW (Stick) electrodes
  • Must successfully complete a comprehensive fabrication skills assessment, including demonstration of 7018 Stick welding proficiency
  • Strong understanding of blueprint interpretation, welding specifications, and welding procedures
  • Knowledge of precision measuring instruments, including but not limited to calipers, inside and outside micrometers, depth gauges, indicators, and scales
  • Ability to use and read welding and layout measuring devices, including squares, levels, and tape measures
  • Capable of performing accurate layout work from blueprints
  • Ability to work overtime as required
  • Physically capable of climbing up to 120 feet while wearing and using approved fall-protection equipment
  • Must be able to stand, walk, reach, crouch, crawl or kneel for a minimum of 65% of the day
  • Must be able to constantly lift 10 pounds and occasionally lift 50#
  • Must be able to work around loud noises while using ear protection
