Job description

Private Development Engineer II

Salary:$75,000 - $90,000 (salary will be commensurate with experience)

The City of Ann Arbor offers a competitive wage and benefits package including medical, vision, dental, paid vacation, sick and holiday leave.

Role Summary:

Assignments require evaluation, selection, and application of standard civil engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria in order to make minor adaptations and modifications to, or review, existing plans or specifications. Assignments have clear and specific objectives. Performance at this level requires developmental experience in professional civil engineering.

Essential Duties:

  • Performs plan reviews and facilitate construction projects for Private Development projects. Reviews construction plans, reports, and coordinate the work of consultants and contractors.  Interacts with the public, consultants, and contractors
  • Independently performs most assignments with instructions as to the general results expected.  Receives technical guidance on unusual or complex problems and supervisory approval on proposed plans for projects

Education, Training and Experience Required at Entry:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible civil engineering experience.

Licensing Requirements at Entry

  • Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification 
  • Valid driver's license.
