Position Information
Position Title Video Editing (PaCE) Job Summary
The Program in Professional and Continuing Education (PaCE) seeks a part-time Adjunct Faculty member to teach the 4 credit offering,Shooting like an Editor: Introduction to Video Production during the Fall quarter of the 2026-27 academic year. This course will focus on the technical, aesthetic, and narrative foundations of digital video editing for web, marketing, documentary, and short-form media production.
The successful candidate will teach a course that introduces students to industry-standard editing workflows, including media management, storytelling through editing, pacing and rhythm, sound design, color correction, graphics integration, and final export for multiple platforms. The course should balance technical skill development with critical analysis of visual storytelling, messaging, and audience engagement.
This course is part of PaCE's expanding Art, Media, and Design offerings and may contribute to a certificate pathway in digital media production. The successful candidate will contribute to a collaborative, student-centered curriculum that integrates theory with hands-on practice.

Job Expectations
Curriculum in the school of Professional and Continuing Education (PaCE) is based on undergraduate certificates and bachelor's degree completion curriculum comprised of 4-credit and 8-credit offerings, and capstone work that may include internships or individual study. Courses and programs are offered online, in-person, or in hybrid formats. All curriculum includes synchronous meetings for at least half of the class instruction time. Synchronous sessions occur in the evenings or on weekends (Pacific Time). Faculty development opportunities are provided to help faculty increase skills in online teaching and curriculum design.
Evergreen uses narrative evaluations in lieu of grades, and faculty are generally responsible for evaluating 25 students/quarter in each class. Faculty support students with informal advising as they reflect on their learning processes and develop their own areas of academic concentration.
Our pedagogy centers on collaborative learning communities. We are interested in helping students develop interdisciplinary approaches to critical thinking, problem solving, communication, and collaboration across the curriculum. Because over 80% of our students come from underserved and marginalized groups, we are particularly invested in approaches to teaching that emphasize diversity and equity, that provide opportunities for challenge and growth, and that foster a learning environment where all are welcome, and all can learn from each other.
This is an adjunct faculty position and not eligible for continuing appointment. All requirements for the position must be completed at the time of hire. Salary for all positions is based on experience and degrees (see Salary Grid for more information). We do not offer relocation expenses for our adjunct faculty positions.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in film, Media Studies, Digital Media, Communications, or a closely related field
  • Master's degree and/or at least 5 years of professional experience in video editing or post-production
  • Demonstrated proficiency with industry-standard editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or similar)
  • Teaching experience in a classroom, workshop, or professional training environment
  • Professional experience editing video content for business, nonprofit, documentary, or creative media contexts

Preferred Qualifications
  • Terminal degree in a relevant field
  • Experience teaching hybrid or online courses
  • College-level teaching experience
  • Experience mentoring adult learners and students from diverse backgrounds
  • Professional experience in collaborative production environments
  • Experience supervising applied student projects or internships
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive teaching practices

Full time/Part time Part Time Salary Information $3709-$8361 per quarter at 0.25 FTE. Faculty membership is unranked with salary determined on a non-competitive, open scale based on earned degrees and years of relevant experience (e.g. $6364 per quarter at median EY of 20 for recent adjunct hires.)
