Job description

Job Title: Assistant Football Coach (High School)
Reports To: Head Football Coach / Athletic Director
Location: Cabot High School
FLSA Status: [Exempt/Non-Exempt]
Position Summary:
The Assistant Football Coach supports the Head Coach in all aspects of the football program, including practice planning, game strategy, player development, and mentoring student-athletes. The role emphasizes the promotion of teamwork, sportsmanship, academic achievement, and personal growth.
Key Responsibilities:







  • Assist in organizing and conducting practices and games.
  • Provide individual and group instruction to improve athletic performance.
  • Support the Head Coach in game planning, film review, and scouting opponents.
  • Promote and monitor the academic progress and conduct of student-athletes.
  • Help maintain equipment, facilities, and inventory.
  • Ensure adherence to school policies, district regulations, and athletic codes of conduct.
  • Foster a positive, respectful, and inclusive team culture.
  • Attend required meetings, clinics, and professional development sessions.
  • Supervise student-athletes before, during, and after practices/games.
  • Assist in transportation, fundraising, and other program logistics as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience coaching football (high school or youth level preferred).
  • Knowledge of football rules, strategies, and techniques.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with players, parents, and staff.
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Background check and appropriate clearances as required by Cabot Public Schools.

 
Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift 25+ pounds (equipment, gear, etc.)
  • Ability to stand, run, and demonstrate athletic movements for extended periods.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and travel for games.

 
Certification/License:  

  • Must have the appropriate level core content are endorsement on teaching certificate

Salary:  Certified Teacher Salary Schedule with applicable index
