Nomura Capital Management (NCM) is seeking to recruit a seasoned Vice President to work on manager research and selection in the Private Credit Team for the Nomura Alternative Income Fund (NAIFX).ย  The candidate will play a critical role in sourcing and managing best-in-class GPs while working closely with NAIFX portfolio managers to deploy capital effectively. The candidate will focus primarily on US-based managers in Asset-Based Lending, Specialty Finance, and Real Estate Debt who offer both private credit funds and co-investments.

Position:

Nomura Capital Management (NCM) is seeking to recruit an Executive Director to work on the Opportunistic Private Credit Team with an asset-based focus for the Nomura Alternative Income Fund (NAIFX).ย  The candidate will lead sourcing, structuring, diligence, execution, and monitoring of private credit co-investments alongside third party originators and fund managers.ย  ย ย 

The Executive Director will have 10+ years of private asset-based credit experience with demonstrable subject matter expertise, and have a nuanced understanding of underlying transaction risk profiles.ย  In addition, the ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of structuring investments for interval funds, and be intimately familiar the asset-based and specialty finance fund management universe.ย  ย 

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will have a demonstrated track record and an established network to source, structure and diligence prospective investment strategies and opportunities within the asset-based and specialty finance sectors.ย  The candidate will engage with fund managers, originators and industry participants to source and diligence investments.ย ย  Investments will take varying forms including allocations and partnerships with fund managers, originators, operating platforms, and co-investments.ย 

The candidate should have a keen understanding of relative value across the private credit landscape, and be able to identify and pivot to the most attractive areas as the macro environment changes.ย  This candidate will leverage their prior experience, network and the broader NCM and Nomura organizations to deploy capital in a consistent, methodical way to generate superior risk adjusted returns.ย 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Maintaining and expanding a network of investment partners to source and originate co-investments from.
  • Structure investments considering investment objectives, portfolio construction and legal/regulatory criteria for a '40 Act registered interval fund.ย 
  • Underwrite utilizing both quantitative and fundamental credit analysis.
  • Analyze the potential use of leverage in various forms and the impact on risk and return.
  • Oversee deal structuring and execution, coordinating with internal and external counterparties.ย 
  • Manage multiple investment processes with team members in parallel to drive results.
  • Lead, develop, and mentor junior resources.
  • Maintain a pipeline of actionable ideas and emerging themes as the opportunity set continuously evolves.ย 
  • Prepare investment memoranda and related documentation for Investment Committee and monitoring post execution.ย ย 
  • Continuously evaluate existing portfolio exposures (across SPV and fund investments, co-investments and direct investments) by tracking key exposures, risk factors, and having regular dialogue with fund managers and industry participants.ย 
  • Manage investments post-closing and develop roadmap to harvest investments over time.ย 
  • Continuously improve and optimize investment diligence, monitoring and reporting.ย 

The candidate will collaborate with teams both internally and externally and across functions-Risk Management, Legal, Compliance, Data providers, Distribution partners, Counterparties, Technology Vendors, Operations, Accounting, etc.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of relevant credit experience in private asset-based and specialty finance sectors.
  • Interval fund experience preferred.
  • Deep knowledge of the credit markets (private and securitization), with a passion for investing
  • Ability to articulate complex details intelligently and succinctly.ย 
  • A network to source and originate co-investments.ย 
  • Prior leadership and managerial experience.ย 
  • A self-starter that is commercial and results-oriented in structuring investments and partnerships with originators and third party fund managers.
  • An individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and works with a sense of urgency while never compromising on diligence.ย 
  • An individual who has a demonstrated track record of alpha generation, and a strong understanding of credit analysis.
  • Detail oriented with exceptional quantitative/analytical capabilities and a high degree of investment acumen.
  • Uncompromised integrity and honesty.
  • Someone who will operate as a true fiduciary on behalf of clients.
  • Collaborative with interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with cross-functional teams such as legal, operations and tax, and external teams.ย 
  • Comfortable and excited to operate in an entrepreneurial culture and contribute to the scaling of a business unit within a broader organization.ย 
  • Strong academic credentials; CFA preferred.ย
