No Experience Photo Editor information

What is a no experience photo editor?

A No Experience Photo Editor job is an entry-level position for individuals who have little to no prior experience in photo editing. Employers may provide training on using software like Photoshop, Lightroom, or other editing tools. Responsibilities typically include basic image adjustments, cropping, retouching, and enhancing photos based on client or company needs. This role is great for beginners looking to develop their skills in photo editing while gaining practical experience. Many jobs in this category may be freelance, part-time, or internships to help individuals build a portfolio.

What are the typical daily tasks of a no experience photo editor, and how much creative input will I have?

As a No Experience Photo Editor, you can expect to spend your day performing basic image corrections, adjusting colors, cropping photos, and occasionally following predetermined editing templates. Most entry-level roles start with straightforward tasks under the guidance of more experienced editors, allowing you to gradually develop your technical and creative skills. Over time, as you demonstrate reliability and an eye for aesthetics, you'll likely have increasing opportunities to contribute creative ideas or take on more complex projects. Teamwork and openness to learning are highly valued, and you’ll regularly collaborate with photographers, designers, or marketers depending on the company's structure.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a no experience photo editor, and why are they important?

To thrive as a No Experience Photo Editor, you need a keen eye for detail, basic computer skills, and a willingness to learn image editing techniques. Familiarity with entry-level photo editing software like Adobe Photoshop Elements or Canva is helpful, though formal certifications are not usually required for beginner roles. Creativity, good communication, and receptiveness to feedback are valuable soft skills that help you grow and collaborate on assignments. These attributes are essential for producing quality visual work, developing new abilities quickly, and successfully integrating with creative teams.

Job description

About the Job

We’re looking for a Social Video Editor / Motion Graphics Artist who lives inside a timeline, knows a great hook when they see one, and thrives on the challenge of making content that stops the scroll.

If you’re passionate about short-form social content, have a sharp eye for pacing, and believe that testing variations is just as important as the edit itself—keep reading.

What You’ll Do:

  • Edit and deliver high-quality short-form social videos at speed—because testing content means producing options, not just one cut
  • Create multiple variations of edits (different hooks, pacing, lengths) to support performance testing and internal creative reviews
  • Develop motion graphics that elevate content and feel native to the platform—not like a slideshow
  • Mix music, add sound effects, and handle audio in a way that makes people want to keep watching
  • Apply color correction and grading to ensure visual consistency and quality across deliverables
  • Support our photography and videography team by editing the content they capture—social posts, brand content, and beyond
  • Assist with ad production and web video projects as brand needs arise
  • Format and optimize content for every platform and aspect ratio—Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and wherever else we show up
  • Stay current on trends and platform behavior so our content always feels timely and relevant
  • Juggle multiple projects and deadlines without losing quality or momentum

What You Bring:

  • 1–3 years of video editing experience, with a strong focus on social and short-form content
  • Solid skills in Adobe After Effects and the broader Adobe suite (Premiere Pro, Audition, etc.)
  • A real understanding of what makes social content perform—hooks, pacing, variation—and how to test it
  • Experience with music mixing and sound design: you know how audio shapes a viewer’s experience
  • Working knowledge of color correction and grading
  • Comfortable taking a project from raw footage to final deliverable independently
  • Strong attention to detail—one frame off is still off
  • Good communicator who can take direction and give clear creative feedback
  • Experience creating content for TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and similar platforms
  • Comfortable collaborating across teams—whether that’s photo/video, brand, or 3D
