Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatric Operating Room position requiring at least 1 year of acute care experience and 6 months of Peds OR experience.

Details
  • Work in the Pediatric Operating Room of a hospital environment
  • Patient population includes ENT, Urology, Neuro, General, Ortho, and Trauma cases
  • Handles both inpatient and outpatient surgical cases
  • Average daily census of approximately 25 patients per day
  • Day shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts from 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM
  • Every other weekend work requirement
  • On-call requirement of 2 weekend and 2-3 weekday overnight shifts per 6-week schedule
  • Uses Surginet charting system
  • Travelers are prioritized for floating assignments
Requirements
  • Active CA RN license in hand at time of consideration; pending or temporary licenses not accepted
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS
  • BSN required
  • Minimum 1 year of acute care experience with 6 months of Pediatric OR experience required
  • Accepts candidates with either inpatient or ambulatory OR experience
  • IV Start and Circulate skills required
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Trauma Level I experience preferred
  • Two supervisor-level references required, dated within 1 year of start date or from most recent employer
Additional Information
  • Functions as a break nurse approximately 20% of the time during 8-hour shift capacity
  • Performs circulating duties across a range of pediatric surgical specialties including general surgery, orthopedics, urology, podiatry, neurology, and ENT procedures
  • Follows Universal Protocol (Time Out) procedures for all cases
  • First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
  • Maximum of 7 days RTO permitted, with no RTO allowed during the first week of the assignment
  • Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted
  • Former staff must be separated for at least 1 year before reapplying to travel positions
  • Up to 16 hours of orientation modules may be required, varying by specialty
