Familiarity with electronic health records (EHRs), pediatric assessment tools, and immunization tracking systems is essential. What is an Outpatient Pediatric RN?

An Outpatient Pediatric RN is a registered nurse who specializes in providing nursing care to children in outpatient settings, such as clinics, physician offices, or ambulatory care centers. They assess and monitor young patients, administer medications and vaccinations, assist with procedures, educate families, and coordinate care with physicians and other healthcare professionals. Unlike inpatient nurses, outpatient pediatric RNs typically see patients for scheduled visits rather than extended hospital stays, focusing on preventive care and chronic condition management.
