Job description

ASN Constructors is a joint venture of three international contractors (Acciona, Shikun & Binui and North American Construction Group) who will work with the Metro Flood Diversion Authority and other area stakeholders to build a historic project that will protect the citizens of the Fargo-Moorhead area from flood waters from the Red River. The Field Engineer Intern will assist and be under the guidance of other engineering staff working on projects to meet various heavy/civil construction needs. This position may also require the successful candidate to evaluate, inspect, design, estimate, and provide project management of heavy/civil construction projects.
Responsibilities:
  • Performs project-specific observations, and inspection duties under general supervision.
  • Assist with analyzing survey reports, maps, drawings, plans, specifications, contractual documents, aerial photography, and other topographical or geologic data to plan projects
  • Assist with the inspection quality of work performed during the daily activities of the overall construction on heavy civil projects. Included but not limited to; roads, environmental, excavations, concrete and rebar.
  • Demonstrate good organizational, planning and time management skills
  • Help detects deficiencies and address deficiencies in a timely and effective manner
  • Work with the field engineering staff acting as their field representative ensuring construction complies with the QA/QC requirements.
  • Interface with field foreman and superintendents to maintain an open line of communication and reporting monitor job progress
  • Assist with managing project document control
  • Assist with managing procurement of materials and consumables, including vendor pre-qualifications and development of RFQ's
  • Interact cross-functionally with Field Engineers and other team members.
  • Performs related work as required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Data collection and evaluation techniques
  • Must have Basic Math, Calculator, and Computer Skills
  • Will learn to read plans and specifications
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail.

Requirements
Experience/Qualifications:
  • Currently pursuing a degree in construction management, civil/mechanical engineering, or acceptable combination education and or experience.
  • Construction experience a plus
  • Valid driver's license and reliable driving record is required

Work Environment:
  • Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions.
  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts.
  • Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration.
  • Noise levels in the work environment is usually loud.
  • Ability to wear and work in personnel protective equipment including but not limited to hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, ankle-supporting safety-toed work boots and a safety vest.

Physical Demands:

  • Extensive moving or positioning heavy weighted materials (up to 50 lbs.).
  • Must be able to traverse irregular and steep terrain.
