*Position is in Interventional Radiology.

ACLS and PALS required. Critical care/ICU experience and Interventional Radiology experience highly preferred.

Shifts will be 8-10 hours with call approximately 8 shifts/month.

Job Summary and Qualifications

The Registered Nurse demonstrates advanced knowledge, skills and understands the unique aspects of the population served in the care of his/her patients. Each service also requires specialized skills. The delivery of care is based on the physical, psychosocial, cultural, safety and learning needs of the individual patient. The Registered Nurse may rotate to areas other than his/her assigned service area/s, and will perform only those duties for which he/she has demonstrated competency. The Registered Nurse performs delegated duties consistent with the scope of practice and functions within the philosophy and overall plan of care delivery at SMC.

*Interventional Radiology RN and/or critical care experience with adults within the past couple years highly preferred. Ideal candidates will also have ACLS and PALS.

The job duties of diagnostic and interventional radiology nurses include:

Your role serves as a patient advocate and provides patient care through the development and implementation of ongoing systems and practices that promote and maintain quality nursing care for patients undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in the Radiology Department.

You will preparing patients for procedures: Includes checking and verifying vital signs, meds, NPO status, lab results, and medical history

Your role involves inserting and removing intravenous lines, as well as administering conscious sedation drugs and other drugs

You will monitoring patient patterns and vital signs during the procedure

You will oversee the safety and comfort of patients before, during, and after procedures

Your role will provide post-procedure monitoring: Includes observing for signs and symptoms of complications, such as bleeding from the puncture site, pain, and/or changes in mental status or vital signs

Needed Qualifications:

Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing

Current Colorado Registered Nurse License with current BLS, ACLS, and PALS Certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Minimum 1 year IR experience preferred

Must be able to function independently, be multi-task oriented, and show excellent prioritizing skills
