Job Summary:

Bear Mountain at Sudbury is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Infection Preventionist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring infection control policies and procedures to ensure a safe and healthy environment for our residents and staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement infection control policies and procedures in accordance with CDC and OSHA guidelines

  • Conduct surveillance and monitor infection rates to identify trends and areas for improvement

  • Provide education and training to staff on infection control practices and policies

  • Conduct routine inspections of the facility to ensure compliance with infection control standards

  • Collaborate with other departments to identify and address potential infection control issues

  • Develop and maintain infection control policies, procedures, and protocols

  • Participate in Quality Improvement initiatives to reduce infection rates

Requirements:

  • Must possess a nursing degree from an accredited school of nursing

  • Must have, as a minimum, two (2) years clinical experience in a hospital, nursing care facility, or other related healthcare facility

  • Must have, as a minimum, six (6) months training experience in rehabilitative and restorative nursing practices

  • Must possess a working knowledge of epidemiology, microbiology, infectious diseases, and aseptic technique to include standard/universal precautions

  • APIC Certification in infection control preferred, but not necessary

  • Must possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as a Registered Nurse in this state

  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language

  • Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age-related needs of the residents served

  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action

  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public

Physical and Sensory Requirements:

  • Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday

  • Must be able to speak and write the English language in an understandable manner

  • Must be able to cope with the mental, emotional, and physical stress of the position

  • Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to ensure that the requirements of this position can be fully met
