Job description

You will serve as a Writer-Editor in the Publishing Section within the Communication and Outreach Division of NAVAL HISTORY AND HERITAGE COMMAND.Qualifications:GS-12 LEVEL
I have one year of specialized experience performing work that includes writing and editing materials for publication that is equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate performing duties such as the following:
  1. Writing and editing a wide range of materials to ensure clarity, coherence, and accuracy for diverse audiences;
  2. Managing the complete book publishing production process, from initial concept to final distribution in both print and digital formats;
  3. Directing the revision and rewriting of complex documents, ensuring adherence to organizational style, editorial, and production guidelines;
  4. Ensuring meticulous attention to detail by conducting independent research to verify facts, checking the accuracy of sources, and proofreading materials to produce error-free publications;
  5. Providing leadership and guidance to junior staff and other team members on writing and editing standards, publication processes, and industry best practices to ensure the development of high-quality products; and
  6. Managing website content by developing, maintaining, and updating information across command properties, ensuring the currency, accuracy, and usability of the content presentation.
GS-11 LEVEL

  3. Applying expert knowledge of grammar and style, including copyediting and substantive editing, to revise and rewrite complex documents;
  4. Ensuring meticulous attention to detail by conducting independent research to verify facts, checking the accuracy of sources, and proofreading materials to produce error-free publications; and
  5. Utilizing technical proficiency with desktop publishing software and content management systems to assist in the development and maintenance of web content
