About the role

The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) will work in a fast-paced clinical setting supporting the medical team with patient intakes and inquiries, records maintenance and basic patient screenings. In addition to basic Medical Office Administration duties, the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) will assist with injections, blood draws, and assisting a NP or PA in patient procedures.ย 

This is a full-time 10 hour sifts 7:00AM-5:00PM Monday-Saturday 3 weeks on/ 3 weeks off rotation

Key responsibilities
  • Make appointments for the personnel attending the clinicย 
  • Register personnel visiting the facility for consultationย 
  • Prepare required filesย 
  • Manage and control the completion and filing of medical recordsย 
  • Prepared correspondence and reportsย 
  • Maintain training recordsย 
  • Verifies patient information, medical histories by interviewing patients, documenting medical history, and confirming purpose of visit; Updates patients' filesย 
  • Prepares patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests; drug & alcohol screening, pulmonary function test, respirator fit test; and reporting patient history summary.ย 
  • Assist in injury careย 
  • Assist practitioners during medical examinationsย 
  • Explain medical testing to patientsย 
  • Takes patient vitalsย 
  • Performs phlebotomy service and gives injections. ย 
  • Handle any necessary injections (will be trained)ย 
  • Conduct EKG'sย 
  • Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt.ย 
  • Sterilize medical instruments and equipmentย 
  • Enters patient data into EMR and assist NP/Paramedics onsite with Medical Record Keeping & Data Entryย 
About you

Required Skills and Knowledgeย 

  • High school diploma or equivalentย

Required Competencies ย 

ย ย  ย Basic computer, clerical, phone etiquette and customer service skills.ย 

ย ย  ย Must be dependable and reliableย 

ย ย  ย Teamwork is a MUSTย 

ย ย  ย Ability to multitask and follow instructions in a fast paced environmentย 

ย ย  ย Must be able to pass a DISA Drug Screen and Background Checkย 
ย 

Required Work Experienceย 

  • 2+ years of working experience as a Medical Assistant requiredย 
  • DOT drug screen trained (preferred)
  • Occupational Medicine experience (preferred)ย 
  • Experience completing drug & alcohol testing (preferred)ย 
  • Breath Alcohol Testing and Urine Specimen Collector (can provide training)ย 
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (an asset)

Required Qualificationsย 

ย ย  ย Preferred Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) or equivalentย
