Job description

Summary / Objective
National Park College, a proud member of the NJCAA, is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Assistant Baseball Coach to support the Head Coach in all aspects of the men's baseball program. This includes on-field coaching, player development, recruiting, academic monitoring, and adherence to NJCAA and college policies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist the Head Coach in planning and executing all practices, games, and team events.
  • Provide individual skill instruction, especially in assigned positional group(s) such as pitchers, infielders, or outfielders.
  • Support recruiting efforts regionally and nationally, identifying and evaluating prospective student-athletes.
  • Promote academic success and monitor academic progress of student-athletes.
  • Assist with team travel logistics, equipment inventory, and field maintenance.
  • Serve as a positive role model for student-athletes on and off the field.
  • Participate in fundraising, community service, and athletic department events.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Abilities
  • Ensure compliance with all NJCAA rules, conference regulations, and institutional policies.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel as needed.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the schedule.

Education and Experience
Minimum Requirements
  • Associate's degree required.
  • Previous coaching or playing experience at the college level preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of baseball fundamentals, strategy, and player development.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience with recruiting and working with student-athletes in an academic setting.
  • Knowledge of NJCAA eligibility and compliance standards.
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).

Physical Requirements
  • Exposure to varying weather conditions during practices and games.
  • Physical demands include standing, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds, and demonstrating sport-specific skills.
  • Office work and computer use required for recruiting, reports, and communications.
  • Will be expected to travel to home and away games. Some games will require overnight travel.
