This North Jersey-based construction company is a well-established General Contractor with over 40 years of success delivering complex commercial projects throughout the region. With a strong backlog of work, repeat clients, and a reputation for quality, they are seeking an experienced Superintendent to join their growing team and help lead projects from groundbreaking through completion. Client Details The Construction Superintendent will: Lead the on-site team from construction start through project closeout Proactively identify and resolve design deficiencies, schedule concerns, and project-specific issues Communicate and interpret contract scope to the field team and subcontractors Conduct preconstruction meetings with subcontractors before each phase of work Create, maintain, and update project production schedules Review and assist in developing scopes of work for subcontractors Administer and enforce the project's Quality Control program Review and approve invoices, requisitions, and subcontractor progress payments Enforce safety protocols to ensure compliance with OSHA standards Coordinate inspections and maintain compliance with local building requirements Supervise and evaluate project personnel while fostering a positive jobsite culture Communicate regularly with owners, architects, project managers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to drive project success Maintain project documentation, daily reports, and site logs Ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within quality expectations Description As a Building and Construction Superintendent in Newark NJ, you will Managing all on-site construction activities from project start through completion Coordinating subcontractors, suppliers, and field personnel Developing and maintaining project schedules Ensuring compliance with safety regulations and company standards Conducting daily site inspections and quality control reviews Leading site meetings with project teams and stakeholders Identifying and resolving construction issues proactively Monitoring project progress and reporting updates to leadership Ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget expectations Maintaining positive relationships with clients, inspectors, and local authorities Profile The Construction Superintendent should have: 5+ years of experience as a Superintendent for a Commercial General Contractor Experience managing ground-up and renovation commercial construction projects Strong knowledge of construction means, methods, scheduling, and safety practices OSHA 30 certification preferred Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications Strong communication skills, both oral and written Experience leading large field teams and coordinating multiple subcontractors Proficiency with construction management software preferred Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities Job Offer The Commercial Construction Superintendent will receive: Competitive base salary Discretionary annual bonus Truck or vehicle allowance Company cell phone and laptop Paid time off, personal days, and sick days Comprehensive health, medical, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) plan with company match Life and disability insurance Professional development and training opportunities Clear path for advancement into Senior Superintendent and Field Leadership roles Long-term stability with a strong project backlog Exceptional company culture and work/life balance MPI does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, marital status, or based on an individual's status in any group or class protected by applicable federal, state or local law.
