Description
Position Summary: Senior-level boiler operator responsible for the operation, repair and maintenance of low pressure steam boilers, low pressure hot water boilers, and auxiliary equipment used for heating and other processes within the PVSC plant site. Will monitor the operation of assigned boiler equipment, determine if equipment is operating properly, and correct and report any problems. Will follow N.J.A.C. 12:90 and all other boiler codes and regulations pertaining to boiler operation and boiler-related equipment.
Minimum Requirements
Requirements: Must have knowledge of boilers and the related equipment used in such processes. Must have knowledge of the proper procedures needed to operate, maintain, adjust and regulate pumps, valves and other mechanical equipment. Must be knowledgeable of the occupational hazards and the safety precautions that must be exercised within the treatment plant. Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English sufficiently to perform the duties of the position. Must be available for emergencies and/or job assignments on a 24-hour basis.
License and/or Certifications: A minimum of three (3) holding a New Jersey Blue Seal Boiler License with the ability to obtain a New Jersey Red Seal Boiler License after an appropriate training period is required. Must have a valid New Jersey driver's license.
Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of experience in the use of high-pressure boilers.
Education: High school diploma, vocational school diploma or equivalency certificate.
Physical Demands: Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without a reasonable accommodation to ensure the health and safety of oneself and others are maintained. Perform physical activities that require considerable use of the arms, legs and the whole body such as sitting, standing, climbing (including ladders), working from elevated areas, lifting up to 50 lbs., balancing, walking, stooping, pushing, pulling, and handling heavy objects. Must qualify for and possess the ability to perform entry into confined spaces while wearing proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as, but not limited to, canister and dust masks, as well as SCBA (Self Contained Breathing Apparatus).
Working Conditions: Workers are employed in conditions associated with a wastewater treatment plant and sewer collection system and will be required to work indoors and outdoors.
The expected base pay range for this position is $97,771 to $134,808. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's relevant experience, qualifications, education, training, and formal credentials.
