Title: Assistant Director of Business Development & Creative Strategy, Men's Basketball

Occupational Summary

The Duke Men's Basketball program is seeking a highly creative, organized, and collaborative individual to help lead the visual storytelling, player branding, NIL operations, and digital content for one of the premier brands in college athletics. This position will report to the the Men's Basketball General Manager and perform duties in accordance with NCAA, ACC Conference and Duke University policies and procedures.

Help develop and execute community engagement initiatives that align with the program's culture, brand, and institutional priorities

Assist with content collection, college, athlete brand support, and other NIL-related touchpoints as needed and in partnership with the General Manager and Creative Team

Manage calendars, meeting preparation, and follow-up related to the business priorities and initiatives

Keep key documents, strategic plans, presentations, and communication systems organized and up to date

Provide operational and project management support across the core areas of responsibility, including brand/creative strategy, culture initiatives, player engagement, institutional engagement, and partnership development

Assist in coordinating internal communication, timelines, and cross-department collaboration to ensure projects remain organized and on schedule

Take on special projects under the direction of the General Manager or coaching staff, often with tight deadlines.

Creative Strategy

Capture high-quality photography at all Duke Men's Basketball games, practices, workouts, travel, and team activities

Photograph behind-the-scenes moments including locker room access, player arrivals, training sessions, equipment operations, and day-to-day program life

Cover team-organized events including community initiatives, sponsorship activations, fan engagement events, stewardship activities, and player-driven appearances

Manage content strategy and execution for the Duke Men's Basketball TikTok account, including planning, editing, publishing, and performance optimization

Produce engaging short-form vertical video content tailored for social media platforms

Plan, organize, and execute team media days and seasonal photoshoots

Maintain and manage professional photography equipment including camera bodies, lenses, flashes, lighting, and related gear

Assist in managing and organizing the program's digital asset management system in collaboration with the Creative Director

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree required.

Three (3) years of experience in a sports agency, athletic administration, event management, client/hospitality services, or other relevant role.

Exceptional organizational and communication skills.

Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and travel as needed.

High attention to detail, discretion, and a service-first mindset.

Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously in a high-stakes environment.

Work requires analytical, communications and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program.

Experience

Anticipated Pay Range:

Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $ 70,000.00 to USD $77,000.00. Duke University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position; candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills; internal peer equity; as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
