Job description

Registered Nurse RN - Full Time - Emergency Department
Schedule: 72 hours per 2-week pay period | 12-hour NIGHT Shifts (including weekends)
Location: Scripps Memorial La Jolla

This position is eligible for New Hire and Relocation Incentives up to $7K

Our expert trauma surgeons, specialty physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary care teams are available 24/7 to provide exceptional care for every type of traumatic injury.

The Conrad Prebys Emergency and Trauma Center at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla is a Level I Trauma Center verified by the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma and serves as a private teaching hospital for trauma medicine. The hospital features a dedicated trauma unit supported by an Intensive Care Unit (ICU), telemetry, and medical/surgical services. Our multidisciplinary teams collaborate throughout every stage of a patient's recovery-from emergency response and acute hospital care to discharge, follow-up, and rehabilitation.

Registered Nurse (RN) - Trauma Med/Surg

Join the Trauma Med/Surg team at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla and provide exceptional care to trauma and post-surgical medical/surgical patients at one of California's premier Level I Trauma Centers.

Our 22-bed Trauma Med/Surg Unit is a fast-paced, high-acuity Model Care Unit where collaboration, clinical excellence, and compassionate care are at the center of everything we do. The unit maintains a 4:1 or 5:1 nurse-to-patient ratio in accordance with California Title 22 guidelines, allowing nurses to provide safe, high-quality, patient-centered care.

In this role, you will:
  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized plans of care.
  • Implement and evaluate nursing interventions to support optimal patient outcomes.
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust care plans based on clinical needs.
  • Coordinate care with physicians and the interdisciplinary team to ensure seamless, evidence-based treatment.
  • Serve as the primary nurse for your patients, promoting healing while respecting each patient's dignity, autonomy, and individual goals.

New Hire and Relocation Incentive eligible up to $7K , including relocation.

The following are not eligible for hiring incentives:

  • Internal candidates
  • Rehires that left Scripps less than 3 years ago

In order to remain eligible for your retention incentive the following criteria must be met:

  • Must remain in original hired FTE Status and Shift (if specified in offer letter)
  • Must remain in original department/specialty
  • Must remain in original Job Title

Transfers to other locations will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and may result in forfeiting remaining incentive bonus unless specifically noted in your offer letter

Required Qualifications:
   One (1) year of recent RN experience (6 months in Inpatient Setting such as Acute Care, LTAC, Acute Rehab or SNF)
   California Registered Nurse License
   Current American Heart Association BLS Certification
   Must be able to speak, read and follow instructions in English
   Must be able to demonstrate positive behaviors

Preferred Qualifications:
   Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
   One (1) year of recent RN experience in Acute Care or LTAC
   Experience with stepdown Trauma patient care
