Registered Nurse

Job Title: Registered Nurse

Profession: Nursing

Specialty: SICU

Duration: 13 weeks

Shift: Night

Hours per Shift: 12

Experience: Minimum of 1 year in specialty

License: Active RN License

Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS

Must-Have: MICU and/or SICU experience

Independent and competent ability to work with complex, high acuity medical and trauma/neuro/surgical ICU patients

Ability to work rotating shifts or block schedules for day/night shifts

Description: This position is not for novice or entry-level RNs. The nurse will be expected to provide care to complex patients in a high-acuity environment. Rotating shift availability is preferred to accommodate census flexing needs. The nurse will primarily float within the Critical Care Division but may be required to float to other units as needed. Weekend needs will vary based on unit requirements. Patients include adolescents, adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics. Daily census typically reaches 26 patients. The unit includes comprehensive medical and surgical/trauma/neurosurgical care. Specialized procedures performed in the unit include post cardiac surgery, post craniotomy, and management of extensive medical conditions. The nurse will work with interdisciplinary teams, including respiratory services, physical therapy, and pharmacy. Strong skills in managing ventilated patients, IV drips, and emergency medications are essential. Nurses must be proficient in interpreting dysrhythmias and arterial blood gases. Experience with patient management protocols and care standards in critical care environments is required.
