Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU night shift position requiring at least 1 year of experience and a NC or Compact RN license in hand.

Details
  • Work in the Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU (CVPICU) at a teaching hospital setting
  • Care for pediatric patients with congenital heart disease, post cardiac surgery, and other complex cardiovascular conditions
  • Patient ratio of 1:2
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
  • Required to work every other weekend
  • Floating required
  • Epic charting system experience preferred
  • Orientation occurs on a bi-weekly basis
Requirements
  • Active RN license (NC or Compact) required in hand
  • Current BLS and PALS certifications required
  • Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
  • Teaching hospital, Trauma Level I, and Trauma Level II experience preferred
  • Previous charge nurse experience preferred
  • Skilled in ventilator management, care of ventilated patients, and airway/tracheostomy care
  • Experience with hemodynamic monitoring, CVP monitoring, and interpretation/management of dysrhythmias preferred
  • Experience with ECMO, VAD (LVAD/RVAD), and post cardiac catheterization care preferred
  • Skilled in central line care, arterial line management, and IV therapy
  • Experience with CRRT, dialysis, and renal failure management preferred
  • Experience with EVD, ICP monitoring, and post-neurosurgical care preferred
  • One supervisory reference from within the last year required for consideration
  • Full SSN and date of birth required for consideration
Additional Information
  • Provide advanced critical care nursing to pediatric cardiovascular patients, including those with congenital heart disease and post-surgical needs
  • Utilize skills in respiratory, cardiovascular, renal, neurologic, and medication management specific to pediatric critical care
  • Work within a structured team environment supporting complex pediatric cases
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply for this position
  • Local candidates accepted within a 75-mile radius at a reduced rate
  • Candidates with prior permanent employment at this health system must not have been employed there within the past 6 months
  • RTO of 5-7 days maximum must be included at time of consideration
  • Flu vaccine required during flu season (October 31 through March 31) with no exemptions
