Job description

Summary:

Assists with all general services in the Golf Pro Shop including but not limited to: maintaining an elegant looking pro shop, bookings, answering phones, checking in daily play and responding to member’s requests.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following;

  • Provides assistance for members and guests in the Pro Shop.
  • Facilitates all telephone traffic.                                                                                  
  • Books tee times.
  • Books lessons.
  • Check-ins daily play.
  • Assists in all opening and closing duties of the shop.
  • Communicates with members, co-workers, management and the general public in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions.
  • Exhibits and maintains a professional demeanor to reflect a positive image of The Polo Club.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the First Assistant Senior Golf Professional.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must have good customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of golf merchandise is helpful.
  • Requires responsibility and accountability.
  • Requires good time/task management, and a positive and upbeat attitude. 
  • Requires proficiency with club repair tools such as a vice, grip knife and shaft cutter.
  • Ability to verbally communicate well in English and in writing.
  • Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions in English.
  • Ability to interact professionally and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, co-workers and members.
  • Must be able to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment.

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one year certificate from college or technical school or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills:

Ability to communicate well in English. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of members or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software, PowerPoint software and Internet software.

The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, or crouch.
