Role Summary

The Pro Shop Assistant supports the Head Golf Professional/Director of Golf by managing daily pro shop operations, inventory control, and merchandising. This role ensures exceptional customer experience, oversees shop staff, assists with tournament operations, and maintains a clean, organized, and welcoming retail environment. 


Responsibilities

  • Retail & Merchandising: Oversee inventory levels, receive shipments, price items, and create visually appealing displays to drive sales
  • Operational Management: Perform, oversee, and train staff on opening/closing procedures, POS system transactions, and daily reporting
  • Customer Service: Greet members and guests, book tee times, handle inquiries, and resolve complaints efficiently
  • Staff Supervision: Assist with scheduling, training, and supervising pro shop staff and outside service attendants
  • Tournament Support: Help coordinate, set up, and score league play and tournaments
  • Admin & Compliance: Maintain handicap records (GHIN), ensure compliance with club policies, and manage sales records

  • Experience: 1–2 years of experience in a golf pro shop or high-end retail environment preferred
  • Technology: Proficiency with POS systems
  • Skills: Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Availability: Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and variable hours based on weather 

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods at a desk and work on a computer.
  • Ability to occasionally stand, walk, bend, or reach as needed.
  • Ability to lift or move objects up to 10–15 pounds (e.g., files, office supplies).
  • Manual dexterity to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, telephone, and other office equipment.
  • Visual acuity to read printed materials, spreadsheets, and computer screens.
  • Hearing and speech ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and in virtual meetings.
  • Ability to work in a standard office environment with moderate noise levels.
  • Ability to work a standard schedule, with occasional extended hours as required.

Pay:

$16.00 per hour
