Description

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Material Handler to join our team. The Material Handler moves skids and loads pallets throughout the plant and/or onto trailers by operating forklifts, electric floor walkers, and hand-operated lift trucks.. The ideal candidate is able to work well under pressure and familiar with using powered industrial trucks in a manufacturing environment.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Move both raw and finished goods throughout the area or plant assignment by operating either an electric or hand lift truck.
  • Unload pallets of goods from end of a production line with the use of a powered forklift.
  • Stage goods for movement to the next location.
  • Complete packaging of finished goods if required.
  • Load trailers with goods for delivery to the warehouse or next plant location.
  • If assigned, use Microsoft Excel to accurately complete loading logs of finished goods being delivered to the warehouse on a daily basis.
  • Remove chips from machines and move chip carts to empty at assigned chip dock daily.
  • Transport all production scrap and RV's (Return to Vendor) to proper plant location.
  • Provide all machine workstations with necessary coolants and naphtha to ensure smooth operation of the machines.
  • Pull pans, clean coolant sumps, and pump coolants from machines as needed.
  • Clean major spills, dispensing and disposing of floor dry, as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Please note: Cross-training is a requirement of this position. Depending on business needs, Material Handlers may be assigned to move materials in different production areas or at different plant locations. Additionally, this position will proxy for other production roles as needed while waiting for product to be available for movement.

WORKING ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

  • Predominantly operates in a shop floor or warehouse environment. Position requires walking frequently through shift on concrete in production areas. May be exposed to moderate heat, light dust, fumes, cold temperatures, and noise. Adequate hearing, eye, and footwear protection is required in production areas.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • One year of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills, specifically Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint.
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing techniques with emphasis on Standardized Work, Continuous Improvement, 5S, and JIT principles preferred.
  • Knowledge of operating electric floor walkers and ability to obtain forklift certification.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and work well under pressure.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed, including on weekends.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must be able to pass a physical examination to confirm ability to perform the job. This position includes extensive walking, regularly stooping, bending, or kneeling, and lifting, carrying, or manipulating objects up to 50 pounds. This position requires repetitive movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers to perform daily responsibilities. Individuals are required to wear personal protective equipment while working.
