Job description

Staff Accountant

Presbyterian Night Shelter is known for serving those experiencing homelessness who are in greatest need: those who have no other places to go.  As the largest homeless shelter in Tarrant County, we serve approximately 1,000 men, women and children each night in shelter or housing.

Job Summary

The Staff Accountant assists with overall accounting functions in the day-to-day financial operations of Presbyterian Night Shelter and provides integral support to the finance department, Controller, and Chief Financial Officer. The job requires sensitivity to the service population's cultural and socioeconomic characteristics. The Staff Accountant must be detail oriented, well organized, and able to manage multiple tasks and prioritize multiple projects to ensure accurate compilation and reporting of financial data in compliance with government regulations and requirements. Skilled in adherence to deadlines. Excellent communication skills and professional office skills. Independent self-starter with high professional standards.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required

At least three years' experience in bookkeeping, finance, or accounting in a professional office setting required.

Experience with database accounting software preferred.

Self-motivated, highly organized, analytical individual.

Interpersonal communication skills are critical. 

Able to maintain a high degree of concentration for an extended period.

Ability to maintain client and employee confidentiality and privacy.

Ability to independently solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations.

Valid Texas driver’s license required and proof of auto liability insurance.

Rate of Pay

$58,000.00 to $65,000.00 annually
