OVERVIEW OF THE COMPANY

Fox TV StationsFOX Television Stations owns and operates 29 full power broadcast television stations in the U.S. These include stations located in 14 of the top 15 largest designated market areas, or DMAs, and duopolies in 11 DMAs, including the three largest DMAs (New York, Los Angeles and Chicago). Of these stations, 18 are affiliated with the FOX Network. In addition to distributing sports, entertainment and syndicated content, our television stations collectively produce approximately 1,200 hours of local news every week. These stations leverage viewer, distributor and advertiser demand for the FOX Network's national content.JOB DESCRIPTION

FOX 7 Austin is looking for a News Producer.

This position plays a critical role in shaping the newscast by identifying breaking news, developing enterprise and follow-up stories, and preparing content that informs and engages viewers. The Producer must be creative, energetic, with strong writing skills, well informed, well read and be willing to take chances and try new things.

This role requires creativity, urgency, and decisiveness, with a focus on delivering compelling, accurate, and timely news content under tight deadlines. The Producer works collaboratively with newsroom staff to ensure the strongest possible broadcast day.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Contribute to editorial decision-making for overnight and early-morning newscasts, including breaking news, developing stories, and follow-ups from the previous day
  • Develop, pitch, and execute story ideas with a focus on morning-show relevance and viewer needs
  • Monitor local, national, and overnight news sources to identify breaking or developing stories
  • Write and manage content for early-morning newscasts, news updates, and special coverage
  • Prepare show rundowns, scripts, teases, and transitions with strong pacing and clarity
  • Coordinate with assignment desk, reporters, and photographers to deploy coverage as needed
  • Ensure compliance with all legal, ethical, and regulatory standards related to news content
  • Create and approve scripts for broadcast, digital, and social platforms
  • Build graphics and supers to support on-air storytelling
  • Provide content for web and social media platforms.
  • Assist in planning and producing live and/or taped coverage, including breaking news situations that occur.
  • Participate in editorial meetings and provide a clear handoff to incoming producers and managers
  • Communicate with colleagues at other Fox O&O stations.
  • Operate iNews, BitCentral, and other newsroom systems and equipment
  • Maintain regular attendance and reliability during overnight hours
  • Comply with all FTS computer requirements and station policies, including security, ethics, and equipment responsibility

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Demonstrate strong writing and storytelling skills with a keen eye for accuracy and detail
  • Exhibit excellent organizational and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Work independently while maintaining strong communication with the larger newsroom team
  • Attend and participate in scheduled meetings as required
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • No direct supervisory responsibilities
