Job description

IEM has an immediate opening for a skilled professional responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing various products and systems. The candidate will be the frontline representative for IEM Corp, ensuring that our technology operates correctly and meets the end-user's requirements.

Location: In-Person | International Electronic Machines (IEM)

Basic Functions:

  • Install IEM’s small electronics monitoring systems at customer sites. Hands-on work and supervision.
  • Monitor / Maintain / Troubleshoot, and Repair IEM’s installed base of inspection measurement systems, both Domestic and International.
  • Calibrate, deploy, commission, and test IEM systems in the field.
  • Provide phone support to customers.
  • Support IEM departments by performing hands-on electromechanical testing, inspection, debugging, calibration, and assembly for new system builds.
  • Prepare and maintain all service-related documentation.
  • Direct customer interface to act as IEM’s customer face from a service point of view, ability to address customer questions, provide meaningful answers to the customer, address concerns, and provide feedback to the customer.
  • Interface with customers on service/installation work. Schedule and visit customer sites to perform site surveys, installation, troubleshooting, etc.
  • Interface with third-party installers and outside help where applicable, to coordinate installation work.
  • Obtain service work and installation work permits where needed.
  • Ship new installations and service-related material to customer sites, both domestic and international.
  • Require in-depth knowledge of DHL, FedEx, and other couriers, plus shipping know-how.
  • Participate in other tasks at IEM in support of the production department, repair billings, etc.

Must Have Skills and Attributes

  • Solid electronic and mechanical service background for installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining electromechanical products.
  • Prior proven experience in troubleshooting at an electromechanical system level, both remotely and on-site, and possess IT skills, be able to perform software upgrades, basic network management, and other similar tasks for those systems.
  • Knowledgeable of electronics and mechanical system level testing, calibration, and validation
  • Digital and Analog hardware debugging capabilities. Troubleshooting mindset.
  • Electro-mechanical assembly skills, such as soldering, wire harnessing, cabling, and testing of final product subassemblies
  • Ability to read and understand all types of electronic schematics and mechanical drawings.
  • Experienced in MS Office programs, Excel, Word, Outlook, IT troubleshooting tools, etc.
  • Regular travel required (Possibly 20% - 40% of time)
  • Have successfully used multi-meters, scopes, computers, and other analyzers in troubleshooting electronic systems
  • Strong ability to communicate, in writing as well as orally, system(s) status, issues, and resolutions with external customers and interdepartmental personnel, via conference calls, document detailed trip reports, site upgrade plans, etc.
  • Create and purchase service-related inventory, supplies, and materials
  • Highly motivated, self-starter, eager to learn, good team player

IEM’s systems use electrical, mechanical, optical, machine vision components (lasers and cameras), computers, and other typical small electro-mechanical assemblies

Salary & Availability

  • Competitive salary and benefits. Salary range from $65K to $80K based on experience
  • Valid driver’s license, current US passport with no international travel restrictions (or Green card)
  • Occasionally available during off-business hours as needed
  • Must be able to pass the IEM Electronics and Troubleshooting tests
  • Successful job references are required.
  • Minimum 10 years of field work experience performing similar tasks.
  • This is a full-time, on-site position based in Troy, New York. Travel is worldwide.
