Radiology Technologist (PRN, New Graduate) – Lutheran Hospital

Location: Lutheran Hospital
Status: PRN (as needed)
Shift: Varied
Pay Range: $29.14/hr – $33.04/hr (dependent on experience)

Job Description

As a Radiologic Technologist, you will perform diagnostic imaging exams using specialized equipment to assist in patient diagnosis and care. You will collaborate with radiologists, physicians, and care teams to deliver accurate, high-quality imaging while providing excellent patient care.

This role is ideal for new graduates who are eager to build clinical experience in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment.

Essential Functions

  • Maintain ARRT or modality-specific competency in all clinical and technical functions.

  • Ensure proper patient identification, verify orders, and prepare patients for exams.

  • Perform imaging exams according to department protocols; review images for quality, clarity, and accuracy.

  • Adhere to radiation safety guidelines and maintain a safe working environment.

  • Complete studies within acceptable timeframes without compromising patient care or quality.

  • Assist and instruct students and other Radiology Technologists in exam procedures, positioning, and equipment use.

  • Provide patient education, ensure comfort, and address questions or concerns.

  • Follow infection control standards and sterile technique practices.

  • Operate imaging equipment and related systems to ensure optimal image quality.

  • Accurately document patient information, procedures, and any adverse reactions.

  • Follow protocols related to medical necessity, coding, charging, consents, quality control programs, and reporting equipment failures.

Minimum Qualifications

  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)(R) certification

  • Current Radiologic Technologist license in the state of practice

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers

  • May be required to complete the Medical Assistant (MA) Competency Checklist and perform MA functions in a clinic or InstaCare setting

Physical Requirements

  • Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
  • Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
  • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.
  • Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
  • Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc.)
  • May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
