This role combines expertise across multiple areas, from industrial process automation to software development. We welcome exceptional candidates from diverse backgrounds and experience levels. The Basics
  • Bachelor of Science degree in a field related to engineering, computer science, or data science
  • Proficiency in computer programming
  • Experience working in a production environment

The Extras
  • Experience working in the metals industry
  • Experience working in level 2 process automation (according to the Purdue Model)
  • Experience in software development, especially .NET framework and C-family languages
  • Experience working with SQL databases such as Oracle SQL
  • Experience working with human machine interfaces (HMI's) such as WinCC

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
  • Maintaining, improving, and developing level 2 automation systems for the ArcelorMittal Calvert hot strip mill
  • Developing software solutions using a range of programming languages including FORTRAN, C++, and C#
  • Maintaining databases that record critical process data
  • Conducting incident investigations using specialized tools such as IBA
  • Conducting statistical analysis to tune physical models and improve system performance
  • Maintaining digital tools including human machine interfaces (HMI's) and shop-floor camera systems
