Job Title: Lead Software Engineer

Location: Minnesota, MN (Occasional In-Office Work)

Pay Range: $75/hr - $90/hr

What’s the Job?

Position Summary
This client is seeking an experienced Engineering Lead to provide technical leadership for our Marketing Content & Digital Asset Management ecosystem. This role will help shape the future of how content is created, managed, measured, and delivered across advisor-facing platforms.
The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise in Content Management Systems (CMS), Digital Asset Management (DAM), integrations, and modern platform engineering with strong communication and business acumen. This individual will partner closely with product, marketing, content, and business stakeholders to define platform strategy, drive technical direction, and help establish a roadmap for a newly formed team operating in a highly visible and evolving space.
This role requires someone who excels in ambiguity, can influence non-technical stakeholders, and can translate business objectives into scalable technology solutions that improve advisor enablement, content activation, and content performance visibility, and digital asset management capabilities.


Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Strategy
  • Serve as the technical lead for content management and digital asset management platforms.
  • Help define the strategic roadmap for advisor-facing content and asset management capabilities.
  • Drive technical decisions around CMS, DAM, workflow management, publishing, analytics, and platform integrations.
  • Partner with business leaders to identify opportunities that increase advisor engagement, content effectiveness, and operational efficiency.
  • Establish architecture, engineering standards, and best practices for the team.
Platform & Solution Architecture
  • Design scalable and secure solutions across content management, digital asset management, workflow automation, and marketing technology platforms.
  • Evaluate current platform capabilities and recommend improvements that enhance content discoverability, usability, governance, and performance measurement.
  • Design APIs, event-driven integrations, and automation workflows that enable seamless content distribution and asset lifecycle management.
  • Define integration patterns between enterprise platforms and downstream digital experiences.
Software Engineering
  • Develop and maintain software, APIs, integrations, and platform extensions supporting content operations and advisor enablement initiatives.
  • Build resilient and observable solutions using modern engineering practices.
  • Contribute to cloud-native architectures and distributed systems.
  • Troubleshoot complex production issues across platforms and integrations.
Stakeholder Engagement
  • Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Lead discovery efforts, workshops, and discussions that help define future-state capabilities.
  • Translate business needs into actionable engineering initiatives.
  • Influence decision-making through strong communication, data, and technical expertise.
Team Leadership & Mentorship
  • Provide day-to-day technical leadership for a growing engineering team.
  • Mentor engineers through design reviews, architecture discussions, and implementation guidance.
  • Help establish team operating models, engineering processes, and technical standards.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of software engineering experience building enterprise applications, integrations, or platform solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience serving as a technical lead, engineering lead, or senior architect-level contributor.
  • Strong experience with enterprise Content Management Systems (CMS).
  • Strong experience with Digital Asset Management (DAM) platforms.
  • Experience designing and implementing REST APIs, event-driven architectures, and enterprise integrations.
  • Experience working with messaging and pub/sub architectures (Kafka or similar technologies).
  • Strong understanding of distributed systems, cloud-native design principles, and software architecture.
  • Proven ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Experience influencing stakeholders and driving initiatives across business and technology teams.
  • Strong SQL and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and establishing engineering best practices.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Sitecore.
  • Experience with Brandworkz or similar Digital Asset Management platforms.
  • Experience with Monday.com or other workflow management platforms.
  • Marketing Technology (MarTech) platform experience.
  • Experience building content publishing, marketing automation, or advisor enablement solutions.
  • Experience supporting content analytics, asset performance tracking, and engagement reporting.
  • Java and Spring Boot experience.
  • Experience with AWS and/or Azure.
  • Financial Services industry experience.
  • Experience working in startup-like or highly entrepreneurial environments.
  • Experience defining platform strategy in an emerging or newly formed organization.

  • Improve advisor access to content and digital assets across platforms.
  • Increase visibility into content usage, engagement, and performance metrics.

  • Help scale the team through strong technical leadership and mentorship.
Location
  • Minneapolis/St. Paul area strongly preferred.
  • Candidates within driving distance who can participate in periodic onsite workshops and team events will be prioritized.
  • Exceptional remote candidates with deep CMS/DAM leadership experience will be considered.
