Job description

NOTE: This position is available for remote work within the contiguous United States with travel as required for business needs.

POSITION SUMMARY: This career level position will be working within the Plant Services department assisting in the development of the software that supports the NuScale control room simulator. This position needs a talented and flexible thinker that can implement real world working software solutions in a production environment. Experience managing server/client environments and familiar with configuration management of customer facing products.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Supports development, testing and operation of the NuScale control room simulator and other software projects.
  • Develops software in accordance with NuScale established procedures and processes to maintain configuration control.
  • Identifies and provides solutions for software defects using issue tracking software.
  • Implements solutions when errors are encountered and seeks to identify common cause issues that affect performance of the software solution.
  • Implements solutions for problems using professional operational principles and company objectives.
  • Works under consultative direction toward long-range goals and objectives. Collaborates with team members to ensure solutions are vetted and deliverables are of high quality.
  • Performs hardware setup and maintenance such as installing computers/monitors and connecting cables. This may at times require limited travel to other locations outside of Corvallis at company's expense.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES:
  • Education/Certification: A minimum of a B.S. degree in software engineering, computer programing, computer science or other technical degree from an accredited college or university is required. Other engineering degrees such as mechanical or nuclear with strong software skills may be considered when accompanied by 5 or more years of demonstrable software deliverables.
  • Experience: Five or more years of professional software development experience is required. Working with maintaining high up-time customer facing products desired. Additional desired experience includes:
    • Working knowledge of an integrated development environment of Visual studio and a revision control system such as Git required.
    • Previous experience preferred with Gitlab, C#, SQL, WPF, networking fundamentals, and distributed systems.
    • Demonstrable understanding of data structures, architecture and optimizing efficiency.
    • Strong object-oriented fundamentals.
  • Industry Requirements: Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.

Pay and Benefits:

The target pay range for this position is $108,908 - $131,441 annually. The full pay range is $97,642 - $152,722 annually.

At NuScale, compensation decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, full-time working experience, education and training, equity within the department.
