What are full time software jobs?

Full-time software jobs refer to positions where individuals work as software developers, engineers, or programmers on a regular, full-time basis, typically 40 hours per week. These roles involve designing, coding, testing, and maintaining software applications or systems. Full-time software professionals can work in various industries and often collaborate with other IT staff, product managers, and designers to create effective solutions. These jobs offer benefits like health insurance, paid time off, and opportunities for career advancement.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a full time software engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Full Time Software Engineer, you need strong programming skills, problem-solving abilities, and typically a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with software development tools, version control systems like Git, and proficiency in languages such as Python, Java, or JavaScript are essential. Excellent communication, collaboration, and time management skills help you work effectively within development teams and adapt to changing project requirements. These skills ensure you can build reliable software, contribute to team goals, and deliver solutions that meet business needs.

What are some common challenges faced by full time software developers, and how can they be addressed?

Full-time software developers often encounter challenges such as managing tight project deadlines, adapting to rapidly changing technologies, and collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams. Balancing the need for high-quality code with speed can be difficult, especially in agile environments. These challenges can be addressed by honing time management and communication skills, participating in regular code reviews, and staying up-to-date with industry trends through continuous learning. Leveraging collaboration tools and seeking mentorship within your team can also help you overcome obstacles and grow professionally.

Senior Director, Lead-to-Order Software Engineering

Description -

Job Description

HP is seeking an exceptional Senior Director of Lead-to-Order Software Engineering to lead one of the company's most business-critical digital engineering organizations. This leader will own the strategy, execution, modernization, and operational excellence of HP's Lead-to-Order software portfolio, spanning CPQ, eCommerce, partner enablement, sales compensation, subscription services, payment and invoicing, digital content, CRM, and commerce platforms.

This role leads a large, global engineering organization across the U.S., India, Brazil, China, Colombia, Europe, and other regions, with responsibility for managers, full-time software developers, contractors, architects, Scrum Masters, and TPMs. The current organization has operated at 350+ software professionals and includes multiple globally distributed engineering managers and delivery teams.

The ideal candidate is a deeply technical, business-oriented engineering executive who can modernize enterprise platforms, accelerate software delivery, improve quality and resiliency, optimize global delivery models, and partner with senior business leaders to enable HP's Lead-to-Order transformation.

Why This Role Matters

Lead-to-Order sits at the center of HP's ability to convert customer, partner, and commercial demand into revenue. This leader will drive platforms and capabilities that directly influence quote velocity, order accuracy, partner experience, commerce enablement, subscription growth, sales compensation, and operational efficiency.

Continued portfolio improvements include modernization of CPQ, eCommerce, and subscription platforms; faster quote cycle times; improved order accuracy; large-scale vendor consolidation; AI-enabled SDLC acceleration; and measurable cost savings across software delivery and operations. The organization also delivers business-impacting capabilities across HP2B, B2C commerce, Stellar Direct, Gekko/subscription services, marketing digital asset transformation, HP All-In Plan, and EMEA partner automation.

Responsibilities

Engineering Strategy and Platform Modernization

Lead the vision, architecture, modernization, and execution roadmap for HP's Lead-to-Order platforms, including CPQ, CRM, B2B/B2C eCommerce, partner portal, partner enablement, partner contra, sales compensation, subscriptions, payment and invoicing, and related digital commerce capabilities.

Drive modernization of strategic platforms to improve scalability, resiliency, security, developer productivity, customer experience, and partner experience.

Establish clear engineering priorities tied to business KPIs, including quote cycle time, order accuracy, revenue enablement, platform availability, cost efficiency, security posture, and delivery predictability.

Global Engineering Leadership

Lead a large, globally distributed engineering organization across multiple geographies, time zones, cultures, and delivery models. Build a high-performance leadership team of engineering managers, architects, technical leads, program leaders, and senior engineers.

Develop talent, strengthen succession plans, improve organizational design, and create clear accountability across multiple software domains and value streams.

Build strong relationships with L3/L4 value stream leaders, business stakeholders, finance, HR, enterprise architecture, security, operations, procurement, and supplier partners.

AI-Enabled Software Delivery and SDLC Transformation

Lead the next generation of software engineering productivity by operationalizing AI-assisted and agentic SDLC accelerators, developer productivity tooling, engineering standards, automation, and measurable delivery improvements.

Define and scale a standard SDLC framework across the organization, including story point baselining, quality gates, DevSecOps practices, release discipline, observability, and continuous improvement. The current role includes leading the development of a standard SDLC framework and operationalizing supplier strategy outcomes.

Operational Excellence, Cost, and Supplier Strategy

Own major software delivery budgets, supplier performance, workforce mix, and cost optimization strategies. Lead vendor consolidation, sourcing strategy, master SOW governance, technical assessments, and delivery model optimization.

Drive significant savings through supplier consolidation, AI-driven development acceleration, infrastructure optimization, contractor-to-FTE conversions, and cloud cost reduction.

Security, Quality, Reliability, and Governance

Ensure all Lead-to-Order platforms meet enterprise standards for security, privacy, compliance, availability, and operational resiliency.

Drive vulnerability remediation, DevSecOps maturity, cloud infrastructure stability, incident reduction, automation, testing strategy, observability, and production excellence. Continue the reduction of high-severity exposure across Azure Pipelines agents and improve stability, job success, and production ticket performance.
