Structural Engineering New Grad | Houston, TX

IMEG, formerly Cardno, is hiring a Structural Engineering New Grad in Houston, TX. This entry-level role offers hands-on design, analysis, and project execution experience, with mentorship, training, and opportunities to grow your expertise from day one. You will work closely with experienced engineers and consultants to support engineering solutions and advice for structural systems.

In this role, you will support project planning and scheduling, work within project budgets, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and contribute across the full project life cycle from design through construction administration. Based in Houston, you will contribute to structural work across commercial and institutional markets, with current projects spanning healthcare, industrial, and mixed-use facilities across Texas and the Gulf Coast, contributing to sustainable design goals including SE2050.

What You'll Do

  • Assist with the design and analysis of structural systems using a variety of building materials, engineering software, and tools to produce detailed designs, specifications, and calculations according to code requirements and IMEG standards.
  • Interact with clients to understand their needs, gather project requirements, communicate technical information effectively, and build and maintain client relationships through professional communication.
  • Work as part of a project team to support the execution of consulting projects.
  • Assist in project planning and scheduling tasks to meet project deadlines and objectives while working within the project's monetary budget.
  • Assist with documenting design decisions and instructions from clients while monitoring project design progress.
  • Analyze low to medium complexity engineering tasks and collaborate with senior engineers and consultants to develop practical and efficient solutions.
  • Participate in IMEG quality control processes to ensure that engineering designs and solutions meet IMEG quality standards, industry standards and client requirements.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in structural engineering, and contribute to research, development, and innovation efforts within IMEG.
  • Prioritize safety in all aspects of engineering work, conduct oneself in an ethical and professional manner, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including other engineers, architects, and project managers, to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goals.
  • Engage in the full life cycle of projects from conception through construction by developing designs, construction documents and participating in construction administration duties such as reviewing construction submittals and participating in job site observations.
