Job Title:Software Developer II

Reports To:Manager, Operations

Department: Operations Engineering

Revision Date: 9/3/2026

FLSA: Exempt

Location: Broomfield, CO Preferred

Level: T2

Rate of Pay:$93,000 - $120,000 USD

Company Overview:

At Comtech Telecommunications Corp, in the Allerium business segment, every connection counts. With roughly 700 employees, we design, deploy, and operate the mission-critical communications infrastructure that public safety agencies and emergency responders depend on every minute of every day.

Comtech Allerium is powering Next Generation 911 and carrier emergency services across North America. We are helping shape the future of emergency communications - making it more resilient, scalable, intelligent, and accessible. If you're looking for work that combines meaningful impact, complex challenges, and the opportunity to build technology people genuinely depend on, there's a place for you at Comtech Allerium. For more on Allerium, please go to www.allerium.com.

Purpose:

The Software Developer will be a critical member of Allerium's Lifecycle Management Platforms (LMP) group, responsible for developing, modernizing, and maintaining automation and integrations across our ITSM and SDLC platform ecosystem. This ecosystem includes on-premises, AWS-hosted, and SaaS applications that together serve as the backbone for engineering, delivery, operations, and product management.

The successful candidate is a self-directed developer who recognizes opportunities to improve systems without being told, takes ownership of their work from planning through delivery, and is comfortable learning unfamiliar technologies quickly. Initial assignment will be determined by team priorities at time of hire.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, extend, and modernize automation processes (scheduled, user-triggered, and event-driven) that manage data, enforce guardrails, and integrate platforms across the LMP ecosystem.
  • Identify and act on opportunities to reduce technical debt, improve reliability, and streamline operations.
  • Design and build integrations between enterprise platforms using REST APIs, scripting, and pipeline automation.
  • Contribute to the refactoring and migration of legacy systems to modern languages and frameworks.
  • Support the reliable and accurate performance of production systems and their interconnecting automation.
  • Collaborate with team members across organization to solve complex operations, integration, and support challenges.
  • Build tooling, infrastructure, and documentation that drives adoption of best practices and organizational standards.
  • Explore and apply AI/automation technologies (including agentic AI concepts) to monitoring, event management, and operational workflows where appropriate.

Requirements:

  • 2-4 years of experience in software development, DevOps or ITSM delivery.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new languages, systems, and protocols quickly and apply them effectively.
  • Self-directed work style: able to identify problems, propose solutions, and execute without detailed instruction.
  • Strong organizational skills and a structured approach to planning and executing work.
  • Experience developing in at least two programming languages (Python, Java, Shell, or similar).
  • Experience with REST API development and integration.
  • Familiarity with version control (Git) and CI/CD pipeline concepts.
  • Comfortable working across multiple systems and technologies simultaneously.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with enterprise platforms (Jira, BMC Helix, GitLab, or similar).
  • Experience with pipeline automation (GitLab CI, Jenkins, or similar).
  • Familiarity with AWS services (Lambda, EC2, S3).
  • Exposure to AI/ML concepts or agentic AI tooling.
  • Linux administration and networking knowledge.
  • Experience with Artifactory or artifact management.
  • 2-4 years of experience in software development, DevOps or ITSM delivery.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field preferred. Equivalent practical experience considered.

This position requires compliance with Comtech's Drug-Free Workplace Program. Candidates must successfully complete a pre-employment drug screening as a condition of hire. Employees may be subject to random, reasonable suspicion, and post-incident testing. Illegal drug use - including marijuana, regardless of state law - is disqualifying under federal adjudicative guidelines and DoD DFARS requirements.

The pay range reflects the expected base salary for this position. Final compensation will be based on role, level, skills, experience, and geographic location.

Comtech Telecommunications Corp. is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability protected veteran status or other characteristics protected by law.
