Job Description:

The Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care of patients. The staff RN utilizes the nursing process by use of technology, therapeutic intervention, evidence-based practice and coordination of care with other health team members.

The New Grad RN position is for recent RN graduates or those with less than one year of RN experience. Those hired as a New Grad RN will work under a licensed RN until license can be verified. In conjunction with working on this unit New Grad RNs attend Intermountain’s one-year nurse residency program. The nurse residency program supports New Grad RNs in their transition from classroom to caregiver through, webinars, simulations, case studies, and in person meetings.. ***An RN with more than one year of nursing experience is not required to attend the nurse residency program.

Unit Information:

The Telemetry unit is a specialized area in the hospital that focuses on the care and treatment of patients with heart-related conditions. Our floor is a 36 bed unit that also serves as a step-down ICU and plays a crucial role in our hospital by providing higher levels of care for patients who have undergone significant cardiac procedures or who are experiencing cardiac issues. We handle a diverse range of patients, including those who have had open heart surgery, heart failure, heart attacks, sepsis, cardiac arrhythmias, and respiratory failure.

Minimum Qualifications:

Graduate Nurse

Entry Pay: $26.50

  • Successful completion of a recognized and accredited Nursing/RN education program (education will be verified).

Registered Nurse

Entry Pay: $37.45 - $57.29

  • Current RN License in state of practice.

Licensed and Unlicensed RN

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification for healthcare providers.

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

  • RNs with less than 12 months of working experience as an RN prior to joining Intermountain must obtain their BSN within five years of their start date.

  • Physical Requirements: Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc).May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
