Summary:
This role will be instrumental in the overall success of the various projects, including design new equipment and improve and increase the capacity of existing equipment to support the company in achieving business goals, thus expanding and increasing profitability.
Key Responsibilities (not an all-inclusive list)
Major Capital Project Support
  • Support projects and lead project tasks and activities to ensure success based on target schedule, cost, and functionality.
  • Participate in HAZOP, and support and execute recommended and approved HAZOP actions.
  • Provide construction execution plan recommendations and support construction by providing supervision of contractors and internal resources in assigned projects.
  • Support and technical evaluation for the purchase of capital equipment including distillation columns, pressure vessels, pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, piping and instrumentation.
  • Ensure that equipment design is sustainable, and all equipment data is coordinated with maintenance and provide recommendations for proper mechanical integrity and reliability.

Other Plant Related Activities:
  • Coach members of our team and deliver training for site staff where necessary to ensure the site personnel are working to the latest operational standards.
  • Ensure risk assessments and hazard identification are carried out for all tasks being undertaken by you, colleagues, contractors, and sub-contractors. Implement any necessary control measures and risk assessments
  • Support the team in maintaining site equipment, ensuring that systems are electrically and mechanically safe, calibrated, functioning to design and within test. Support the team with repairs for the whole site and equipment development so that all equipment is operating at a high aesthetic standard.
  • Ensure that both yourself and all colleagues within your team work in accordance with all company policies relating to health and safety.

Qualifications
  • Degree level Chemical Engineer / Manufacturing/process engineering or other relevant degree
  • 3+ years of industry on the job experience
  • Experience managing engineering projects from concept through delivery.
  • Experience managing construction contractors and site execution activities.
  • Working knowledge of instrumentation, mechanical, and civil engineering as it applies to plant design and construction.
  • Working knowledge of hazard analysis and experience leading or participating in HAZOP studies.
  • Experience with the design and operation of pressurized liquefied gas systems.
  • Experience using AutoCAD or similar design tools.
  • Industrial safety experience, including work with life-critical procedures such as LOTOTO, working at heights, and hot work.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project.
  • Understanding of chemical processing techniques such as fractional distillation.
  • PLC programming and specification experience.
  • Have a detailed understanding of relevant industry standards, ASME BPVC VIII, 49 CFR, ASME B31.3, etc.
  • Experience with process simulation tools such as CHEMCAD or Aspen.
  • Experience with continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean Six Sigma.
