Process Control Engineer Co-Op/Intern- Winter 2027

Where will you work: K2 site at Highway 22. Esterhazy, SK S0A 0X0. Mosaic Potash Esterhazy is an underground potash mine located 90 kilometers south of Yorkton. It's split between three mine sites - K1, K2 and K3 which will be the largest, and one of the world's most competitive underground potash mines in the world. Housing and relocation can be provided for qualified candidates.

As a Process Control Engineering Co-Op/Intern, you will be based at either the K1 or K2 milling sites. In this role, you will support process control and process engineering improvement projects for both mills, learn process control fundamentals, troubleshoot daily operations, and contribute to ongoing site initiatives. This role provides hands-on experience in engineering applications within an industrial setting, allowing you to develop technical skills and gain valuable insight into process optimization. Full time Co-Op/Internship. Typically, 36-40 hoursa week.

What you'll do:

As an intern, you will be immersed in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, performing a mix of fieldwork, data analysis, report writing, and database maintenance. You will actively contribute to operational success through the following responsibilities:

  • Learn and develop key industrial process control skills to assist site subject matter experts

  • Complete process control projects targeted at reducing operational variability to improve key metrics like recovery

  • Work closely with operations and the process engineering teams to identify areas for improvement and propose solutions

  • Support circuit optimization efforts, including field checks, Key Performance Indicator (KPI) tracking, and performance monitoring to sustain operational success.

  • Conduct field checks and contribute to system validation for new projects.

  • Participate in site safety initiatives by engaging in the behavior-based safety program, near-miss reporting, and risk reduction projects.

  • Develop and implement online production monitoring dashboards using PI visualization tool.

  • Communicate with various levels of personnel throughout the organization, including management, plant operators, engineers (of various disciplines), tradespersons, and contractors.

  • Participation in department meetings and meetings specific to the project assignment.

  • Adhering to Mosaic's mission, guiding principles and priorities, and key competencies.

What you'll need:

  • Third year of higher level or above by January 2027 pursuing a bachelor's in Chemical Engineer, Industrial Systems Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Process Engineer

  • 72% or higher

  • Ability to function in an industrial chemical and mining environment.

  • Reliable transportation and valid driver's license - You will need to be able to travel to and from sites and/or office.

  • Ability to work full timeand be a student in standing at the time of the co-op/internship

  • Selected candidates willbe requiredto successfully completepost-offer/pre-placementdrug and alcohol screening, background check, physical, functional capacity examination.

  • Basic computer skills are required

  • Eagerness to learn new skills and develop as an engineer

  • Experience working in a team environment is a must

  • Effective verbal communication skills is a plus

  • Physical work environment is occasionally outdoors with exposure to varying degrees of hot and cold environments
