AVAILABLE POSTDOCTORAL POSITION IN STEM CELLS AND NEUROGENOMICS AT THE UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND, SCHOOL OF MEDICINE, INSTITUTE FOR GENOME SCIENCES
Dr. Seth Ament's lab at the Institute for Genome Sciences (IGS) of the University of Maryland School of Medicine seeks to hire an outstanding postdoctoral fellow. The Ament lab studies the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying brain disorders using human genetics, single-cell and spatial genomics, human pluripotent stem cells, and computational biology. Ongoing NIH-funded studies apply these approaches to psychiatric disorders, neurodevelopmental disorders, substance use disorders, brain injury, and neurodegeneration. The ideal candidate will have a PhD in molecular biology, neuroscience, bioinformatics, or a related discipline.
The Ament lab is a vibrant and highly collaborative team with an outstanding track record of high-profile publications at the forefront of neuroscience and human genetics. Students and fellows have gone on to successful careers in both academia and industry. IGS is an internationally recognized research center comprised of interdisciplinary, multidepartment teams using the powerful tools of genomics to understand genome function in health and disease. IGS is housed within the cutting-edge Health Sciences Research Facility III building on the Downtown Baltimore campus of the University of Maryland School of Medicine, in close proximity to many other labs with complementary interests in neuroscience, stem cell biology, and precision medicine.
