Position Details
Title Postdoctoral Fellow Specific Title Appointment Type Postdoctoral Fellow Department IUSM - Medical & Molecular Genetics Campus IU School of Medicine Indianapolis Position Summary
The Department of Medical and Molecular Genetics at Indiana University School of Medicine is seeking applicants at the Postdoctoral level.
The successful candidates must have a Ph.D. degree with a strong research background in neuroscience, molecular biology, immunology, genetics, or a related biomedical field. Experience in microglial biology, neuroinflammation, Alzheimer's disease (AD), mouse models, cell culture or imaging is highly desirable.
The postdoctoral fellow will join a multidisciplinary and dynamic research team focused on understanding the role of microglia in Alzheimer's disease pathogenesis and neurodegeneration. Ongoing projects investigate microglial signaling pathways, neuroimmune interactions, genetic risk factors, and therapeutic targets using state-of-the-art genomic, transcriptomic, imaging, and functional approaches. Our work aims to leverage the phenotypic plasticity of microglia to identify and modulate microglial functions that can lead to beneficial outcomes in disease. The overarching goal is to understand the mechanisms underlying microglia actions in AD that can guide the development of novel therapeutics as well as the identification of new biomarkers.
Candidates should demonstrate strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a collaborative research environment. Prior experience with neurodegeneration models, microglial functional assays, biochemical assays, flow cytometry, transcriptomic analysis, or advanced microscopy is preferred.
The position offers excellent opportunities for career development, interdisciplinary collaboration, and professional growth within a highly supportive research environment at Indiana University School of Medicine
IU School of Medicine is committed to being a welcoming campus community and we seek candidates whose research, teaching, and community engagement efforts contribute to robust learning and working environments for all students, staff, and faculty. We invite individuals who will join us in our mission to improve health equity and well-being for all throughout the state of Indiana
