Description

American Traveler is hiring a Neuro ICU RN for a day/night rotating travel assignment requiring 2 years of Neuro ICU experience and an active OH or compact RN license.

Details
  • Work in the Neuro ICU of a teaching hospital environment
  • Care for critically ill neurological patients including CVA/stroke, traumatic brain injury, and post-craniotomy/neurosurgery cases
  • Estimated patient ratio of 1:1-2
  • Day/Night rotation on 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 AM-7:30 PM or 7:00 PM-7:30 AM), totaling 36 hours per week
  • Schedule includes every other weekend, with rotation reviewed every 4 weeks
  • On-call responsibilities required
  • Required to float to units of equivalent or lower acuity
  • Uses Epic EHR system
Requirements
  • Active OH or compact RN license in hand at time of submission
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (AHA certifications only)
  • Minimum 2 years of Neuro ICU experience required
  • Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred
  • Previous travel experience preferred
  • Nursing education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • Skilled in IV starts, telemetry, ventilator management, and intracranial pressure monitoring
  • Proficient in neurological care including EVD, lumbar drains, and spinal cord injury management
  • Experience with central line, PICC line, and arterial line management
  • Skilled in cardiac and vasoactive drip titration and continuous IV sedation
  • 2 professional references required, with at least one from a manager/director or supervisor; second reference may be from a Charge RN; coworker references not accepted
Additional Information
  • Provide critical care nursing to neurological ICU patients, including monitoring, medication administration, and management of complex neuro conditions
  • Must complete Ohio fingerprinting process promptly after signing contract; candidates within driving distance of Ohio must travel to a fingerprinting location, while those farther away will receive a mailed fingerprinting packet
  • RTO must be submitted and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
  • Local candidates accepted at the same rate
  • First-time travelers will be screened but may be considered
  • Former employees eligible for travel assignment after being away from the facility for 6 months or more
  • Current employees of any Ohio State University hospital location are ineligible for this travel assignment
