We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated In-Vehicle Network Engineer working with CAN and Ethernet networks. This role is crucial for enabling the evolution of our next-generation vehicle architecture. In this hands-on role, you will help define and release core communication building blocks for our in-vehicle network. You will help in understanding requirements and reviewing software that is built against them; diagnosing network issues; developing innovative ways to simplify network configurations; and shaping how the network will evolve for future vehicle programs. Your expertise will be key as you work closely with hardware/software architects, feature owners, and platform experts to transform strategic designs into implementable network artifacts that will drive our platforms forward.
There will be 2 roles available, the first with a focus on Ethernet, the second will have a focus on CAN Networking.
Responsibilities
What you'll do...
  • Through formal Ford processes, ensure that downstream development teams are tracking to deliver software from their network stacks based on our requirements.
  • Develop and deliver network requirements that seek to enhance the underlying operation of in-vehicle networks.
  • Help to debug anomalies that arise due to network software errors or non-compliance with Ford standards.
  • Design and maintain scripts and tools that help to make the delivery of network artifacts more efficient.
  • Work with Design & Release Engineers from various vehicle programs to facilitate the delivery of software from suppliers.
  • Collaborate with network stack suppliers to make sure ECU software complies with their requirements.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in Network Analysis and Simulation tools.

Even better, you may have...
  • Master's degree in computer engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • Knowledge and application of Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) and/or CAN signaling principles in automotive networking
  • Skilled in Test-Driven Development (TDD) with Gherkin for writing clear, concise, and executable specifications
  • 3+ years of work experience with one or more automotive embedded Oses
  • 1+ years of experience in E2E protection; Network Management
